I never envisioned myself being the one to style and coordinate a wedding; I always saw myself behind the camera, being on the outskirts of the day. That was until my mom told me I would be planning hers! It all took me by surprise that I was being handed all of their trust for something so meaningful. Daunting to say the least, but I did what I always do when I’m lacking confidence, fake it till I make it. Luckily, their plans were to have a micro wedding, which took off a lot of pressure, as they didn’t have to think about a huge guest list. My go to was to see how I could bring in intimacy, the earthiness of their venue, and tie it in a bow to make it all come together! I really think all of the organic elements brought everything to life in a way that other decor couldn’t. I personally dehydrated oranges to keep the plates from feeling empty and my mom and I made a trip to Walmart to grab produce that we thought would fit the vision. Seeing it all come together as we placed everything on their tables, made all the months of planning and nailing everything down, worth it.
The whole day felt so special. It stormed the first half of the day, we didn’t know how we were going to plan around it with everything being outdoors. Brian, my mom’s now husband said, “We’ll just dance in the rain,” which became our whole motto for their day. My mom waited 14 years for this moment, and I wanted to make sure everything was perfect and that they didn’t have to worry about a thing. And as the storm passed, we were gifted with sunshine and everyone took a big sigh of relief. From their on, everything went smoothly. My mom and Brian shared their private vows beneath soaked trees and shared their love and commitment to those close to them in a cute, white chapel.
It’s wild to see your mom find love after waiting for so many years to find it. Without a doubt, their love is seen so prevalently in the way they interact with each other and how they care for those around them.
P.S. I will not be styling, photographing, videoing, and planning a wedding all at once ever again lol
